HI TO EVERYONE AND MALS
has anyone been through a full coat shed yet? nanook hasnt started yet though i will know it when he does i expect is it once or twice a year for males?

Hi Sarah,
I reckon Bauer is going through his first right now - we've filled bags and bags and he's being brushed thoroughly every day! Can't wait till he's finished!

| Noosh s coat is blowing at the mo, its starting at the top of her legs & coming out in clumps,Buffys always got a mouthful of fur,after playing with mum, & the birds swoop into the garden and gather it to line their nests!!cosy

Guys,
I managed to buy a brush called a "furminator" online and used it today on Bauer - did a fantastic job. Check out furminator.com or try googleing it!

| hi everyone this might a daft question but my mal has started to shed lumps of hair from round here back leg can anyone tell me if this is normal she is called charlie and she is 10 mths old many thanks walshy and charlie

Walshy & Charlie,
As you can see from previous posts Mals molt in style with fists full of hair coming out. Owners of girl Mals have the pleasure of experiencing this molting twice a year and the hair gets everywhere.
The hair loss sounds perfectly normal. Our Malamute, Sakari, also tends to start blowing from the outer thigh and leaves really thin fur underneath. It looks unsightly for a few days but evens up as the rest of the coat sheds.

many thanks just through there might somthing not right as my alsations coat starts to get thicker this time of year took the advice on the furminator what a tool

I bought something called a furminator - great name for a dog comb eh? lol
Anyway, I found it really helps when Freya starts blowing her coat to give her a brush with this comb. She usually starts with her back legs first also
